Thanks for the info. We broke 60 degrees recently so I'm hoping to get out there soon! I was planning on trying the Lake and the Meer. I've heard "bread" imitation flies work. Open to any kind of advice if you're willing to share!
There are grass carp in the Meer. surface chum ( bread, dry dog food) works for carp at Loeb Lake at 72nd . I have had little success with getting carp to feed on the surface at other lakes in Central Park.
Good to know. Do you use any specific fly pattern? Or rig up a hook with bread/dog food like your picture above and let it sink to the bottom with split shot?
for carp feeding on the surface, I use deer hair flies. hook size depends on what the carp are looking for. but anything that floats and resembles what they are feeding on (bread, dog food ,etc). underwater, the pop up corn will work after you have chummed the area with corn or other ground bait. the blog shows numerous flies and ground baits I have used for the past few years.
Nice! Catching a NYC carp is on my things to do list for 2021. Been reading your blog for a while now, thanks for the great info and pictures!
ReplyDeleteNice information you posted here for all of us. Also share about Structural Steel Detailing Services.
ReplyDeletewhere do you plan to fish for carp first? carp will become active after about 5 days of the air temps being 50F +
ReplyDeleteThanks!
