Fly Casting ROLL CAST

If a fly fisher plans to catch fish in an urban setting, the Roll Cast is the most important cast to master. It allows the user to reach fish almost anyplace fish are holding.  Not all ponds or lakes permit wading or back casting.  Many of the ponds and lakes, because of nearby trees and bushes, have bottoms covered by decaying leaf matter..  Decaying vegetation will not support the weight of anyone trying to wade.
